At St Mary's School we believe that opportunities for the children to both listen to and perform music are an important part of the school experience.  We love to sing!

All our children have a weekly class music lesson in which they have the opportunity to listen to, perform and compose music. Alongside this, the children work on a varied repertoire of songs for performances, collective worship and services at St Mary's church throughout the school year.

The children have the opportunity to perform in a Christmas production whilst in years Reception, 1 and 2, an Easter production in years 3 and 4 and a summer production in years 5 and 6.

In addition to their curricular music, pupils at St Mary's can join our choir and singing clubs. Some of our children take the opportunity to learn a musical instrument, and we always look forward to hearing them play for us.

In addition to the above, St Mary's pupils regularly participate in larger performance projects with other schools through organisations such as Opera North.

Through our community links our children are often invited to perform at local services and events, we look forward to showcasing our school and love of music when these opportunities arise.
